In the most significant optical industry consolidation since Ciena’s 2009 purchase of Nortel’s Metro Ethernet business, Nokia announced on June 27 its intention to acquire Infinera for $2.3B. On the same day, Nokia also announced that it finally found a buyer for its ASN subsea business in the French government.
