Summary

  • For the third straight quarter, North American Cloud operators were the growth engine for optical and packet transport sales. Excluding NA, both technologies declined in 2Q22.
  • Supply chains remain strained, impacting both product delivery and customers’ ability to accept and deploy new hardware. COVID-related shutdowns in China during the first half of the quarter had an impact, resulting in a back-end loaded quarter and portending a positive 3Q.
  • Currency effects are distorting dollar-denominated results, particularly for vendors which accept a large portion of receipts in euros while procuring most parts in currently strengthening dollars.

This report provides a preliminary summary of our transport equipment market share analysis for 2Q22. It is released once company results for the current quarter are complete. The final 2Q22 Hardware Report, including forecasts through 2026, will be available to all subscribers by September 1st, 2022.

You can also register for a live presentation of the report results held at 11 AM EDT on September 7th. If you register, you’ll be notified when the slides are available for download.
