The compact modular format continues to be the fastest growing segment of the optical hardware market, and the number and type of customer applications continue to expand. Compact modular designs have evolved based on the requirements of service provider customers and now include increased modularity, flexibility, and manageability.
At OFC this year, all of the major hardware vendors updated or introduced new compact modular hardware platforms and several smaller vendors introduced interesting twists on the concepts.
